Brenda Burgin Ross, Academic Professional Instructor of Nutrition at UNCG and a May 2008 UNCG Masters in Gerontology alumni, recently published An Oral History Project with Elderly Montagnard Refugees in the Open Journal of Social Science Research.

“The objective of this qualitative research project was to give a voice to Montagnard refugees, marginalized in U.S. society by limited language skills, poverty, and non-citizen status.    The project provided validation that their lives had meaning and inherently became a therapeutic exercise.”
